about

biography

Love it, despair of it, dream of it, live it - passion electrifies sport. And from the days when I battled alongside and against All Blacks for my Wellington rugby team, that sporting electricity has coursed through my life.

Sport is never just a photo opportunity, a colourful view, or a mud-spattered face. To truly capture sport is to truly feel the energy that underpins it.

Growing up in New Zealand, sport is in my DNA. Rugby, cricket, golf, surfing, tennis, squash, volleyball, sprinting - sport was an arena for hope, excitement and a determined desire to win.

I now have a 3rd Dan Black Belt in Karate, have run marathons and train five days a week at a gym. Sporting joy never leaves you. But nor does knowledge of the drive needed to reach your goals. Dismissing the failures to bloody-mindedly carry on training when the rain’s as relentless as your tiredness. You get up and you go again.

So capturing action for stills and video is about more than observing. For me, it’s immersive. I’m there with the talent, energising their movements and amplifying their will to push themselves to the max. Together we create the feeling as well as the image of what makes sport so emotional.

Emotion conveyed by colours inspired by the rich, saturated tones of my New Zealand upbringing. The sunshine, the beach-like blue warmth and brightness.

If you want authentic, powerful images and content that burst with positivity and vibrancy then come to someone who does sport for life and love.

Come to me.
